David Crane David (at) (dot) February 21, 2020 Last updated: February 21, 2020 The new G44 (Glock 44) pistol in .22LR wasn't the only new Glock (DR) product introduced at SHOT Show 2020. oh no We also got a quick look at the new Glock 45 MOS or G45 MOS Gen5 Compact Action/Full Frame 9mm Combat/Tactical Pistol at Glock's booth, and firearms instructor and Glock spokesperson Scotty Banks was kind enough to give it a shot. Walk through all the features and attributes of the DR G45. The G45 MOS is essentially a Gen5 pistol with a Glock 19 (G19) Gen-5 action mounted on a Glock 17 (G17)-style frame (or grip) mount, with a red dot mini-sight combat optic mounting system on the slide, so. you can install the optics you want. So you get a full 17+1 rounds with the standard magazine (magazine), but 19, 24, 31 and 33 round magazines are also available, so you can have 34 rounds on board. Magwell also expands for faster reloading. The G45 MOS shutter has front notches and "a large GLOCK nDLC hard surface finish in non-reflective black." The forward chest slots help with gun handling (i.e. flipping over the chest) in wet conditions. According to the Glock website, "Additional features include: smoother trigger pull, improved texture for safe handling, reversible magazine catch, ambidextrous bolt stop lever, Modular Strap System (MBS) for custom fit and incredibly accurate and reliable GLOCK. Trigger.. Barrel (GMB )." Of course, you can change the barrel with a Glock threaded silencer (or non-genuine one) to a standard barrel for use with a muzzleloader (silencer/muffler). It goes without saying, even though we're still talking about it. As you can see in the attached photos and videos, the 9mm G45 MOS Pistol is equipped with sights at the height of the silencer. At first glance, the Glock G45 Gen5 MOS ($620, Glock.com) looks like a Glock G19, but it's not. The barrel length is 4.02 inches, the same as the G19, but the frame is full length and the slide is cut off at the front. Upon closer inspection, the G45 has some features that are very different from the standard Glock pistol.
First, mechanical sights are not typical of Glocks. The front sight has a bright orange dot and the rear sight is a solid black, without the white "U" stripe common on Glock mimes. The rear sight protrudes beyond the rear of the bolt and the front edge of the rear sight is flat so it can be bent with one hand. For example, in a carry situation, the rear sight can be attached to a belt or holster, and the bolt can be moved if the other hand is busy blocking punches or grappling.
The rear sight is much stronger than traditional Glocks, perhaps due to the heavy use of EDC. The rear sight is behind the MOS plate so that the sights are not lost when attaching the optics. The front teeth hold the driver. Since both ends of the slide are serrated, there are several options for mounting it on a shelf.
Ghost Ring Night Sights
The trigger guard and grip are classic Glock. The magazine opening has been slightly widened to make reloading easier, which is a great feature. The rear sling is adjustable and the magazines hold 17 rounds. The shutter is reversible and the light rail is standard Glock type.
The extended magazine, redesigned sights, and handguard notches are excellent additions to the Glock's proven reputation.
When I first looked at this gun, I thought, "I think this is a good gun to carry." After testing the pistol at the shooting range, I realized that it is a great carry gun. If you're a Glock fan, this gun will be a great gun right out of the box; If you're thinking of it as a Carry Optics division, this gun fits very well with those plans as well.
We had a G45 at the range for a day in late October and it performed flawlessly. We fired several rounds of Federal.
